A 73-foot-high Indian flag was hoisted at Gorsam Chorten in Arunachal Pradesh's Jemithang near the India-Tibet border on January 8. Organized by the Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps and its Ball of Fire Division, the event saw over 200 attendees, including locals, officials, and Indian Army personnel. The ceremony, held on January 8, 2025, was organized by the Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps and its Ball of Fire Division with support from the Flag Foundation of India. Over 200 people, including local residents, Indian Army personnel, government officials, and schoolchildren, gathered to witness this patriotic moment.
The event was led by Brigadier Vipul Singh Rajput, Commander of the Tawang Brigade, in collaboration with the local administration and Buddhist monks. Dignitaries present included Zila Parishad member Lek Norbu, Jemithang Circle Officer Deewan Mara, and village elders. The national anthem echoed through the valley as the flag was unfurled, adding a profound sense of unity and patriotism to the occasion.
Tourism and Cultural Heritage Boost
The newly installed high-mast flag is expected to attract tourists to the Jemithang Valley, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Officials anticipate that this initiative will further cement Jemithang as a key tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh.

The installation of the flag at Jemithang follows the successful hoisting of a similar flag at Bum La Pass last year, a critical location near the India-China border.
