Prayagraj, January 2, 2025: In preparation for the Maha Kumbh festival, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 26, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has invested Rs 400 crore to ensure uninterrupted electricity for over 40 crore devotees.
The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) has spearheaded the project, constructing 182 km of high-tension lines and 1,405 km of low-tension lines. These upgrades aim to guarantee a seamless power supply throughout the 45-day spiritual gathering.
Illumination with Rechargeable Bulbs
As part of the initiative, more than 40,000 rechargeable bulbs will illuminate the festival grounds. According to Anoop Kumar Sinha, Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department, these bulbs will be installed at key locations, complementing the standard LED lighting. This measure is expected to enhance visibility and ensure safety during the event’s peak hours.
The rechargeable bulbs, costing approximately Rs 2.7 crores, are funded through ongoing Electricity Department projects for the Maha Kumbh. Sinha also highlighted the installation of 4.5 lakh electrical connections across various camps to support the massive influx of devotees.
