CBI Nabs Four Suppliers in Tirumala Ghee Adulteration Scandal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant breakthrough in the Tirumala ghee adulteration case, arresting four suppliers involved in the scam. The case, which has sent shockwaves among devotees, revolves around the adulteration of ghee used in the sacred prasadam at the renowned Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh.

The Scam Uncovered

Investigations revealed that substandard and adulterated ghee was being supplied to the temple, violating strict quality standards. The fraud was uncovered when authorities noticed discrepancies in the texture, aroma, and purity of the ghee used for making the temple’s prasadam, particularly the famous Tirupati Laddu.

Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of harmful substances in the ghee, prompting the CBI to take charge of the investigation. The arrested suppliers are believed to be part of a larger network that has been compromising the purity of temple offerings.

Impact on Devotees and Temple Administration

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the temple, has reassured devotees that strict measures are being implemented to prevent future fraud. The incident has raised concerns about food safety and transparency in the supply chain of temple offerings.

Authorities are now working on strengthening quality control and enhancing supplier verification to ensure such incidents do not recur.

Ongoing Investigation

The CBI is continuing its probe to uncover the full extent of the adulteration network. More arrests are expected as officials dig deeper into the supply chain to identify all those involved. This case has emphasized the need for rigorous checks in temple food supplies to protect the faith of millions of devotees.
