Delhi Elections: AAP's Manish Sisodia Accuses BJP of Using Police and EC for Political Gains

New Delhi | February 3, 2025

As the political battle for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 intensifies, AAP leader Manish Sisodia has made serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the party is using the police and the Election Commission (EC) to influence the electoral process.

Sisodia’s Allegations Against BJP

At a press conference in New Delhi, Sisodia accused the BJP of:

🔴 Misusing the police to harass AAP leaders and volunteers

🔴 Manipulating the Election Commission to favor the BJP

🔴 Using intimidation tactics against opposition candidates

“The BJP knows they cannot win Delhi through votes, so they are misusing government agencies to tilt the elections in their favor,” said Sisodia.

He further stated that AAP leaders were being harassed and that electoral processes were being unfairly influenced to create obstacles for the party.

BJP’s Response: “AAP Playing Victim Card”

In response, BJP spokespersons dismissed Sisodia’s claims, calling them a desperate attempt to mislead voters.

“AAP has lost the people’s trust. Instead of working for Delhi, they are making baseless allegations to cover up their failures,” said a BJP leader.

The party maintained that the Delhi elections would be free and fair, and that AAP was simply making excuses ahead of an anticipated defeat.

Election Commission’s Stand

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has not issued an official statement on the allegations but has assured the public that all elections will be conducted transparently and without bias. EC officials have urged all parties to refrain from making unverified accusations that could damage the credibility of the electoral process.

Public and Political Reactions

The allegations have sparked mixed reactions across the political spectrum:

✅ AAP supporters have backed Sisodia’s claims, demanding a fair and transparent election process.

✅ BJP allies have rejected the accusations, calling them pre-election theatrics.

✅ Independent political analysts say that while election interference allegations are not new, AAP needs to provide concrete evidence to support their claims.

Previous Controversies Between AAP and BJP

This is not the first time AAP and BJP have clashed over election-related allegations. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP had similarly accused the BJP of misusing central agencies like the CBI and ED to target its leaders.

Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also claimed that BJP was attempting to “topple” the AAP government using undemocratic means.

What Happens Next?

🔹 AAP is expected to file a formal complaint with the EC

🔹 BJP will continue campaigning aggressively, denying any wrongdoing

🔹 Election Commission may issue clarifications on fair conduct

🔹 Voters will decide if these allegations impact the election outcome

Conclusion

With Delhi elections heating up, accusations and counter-accusations between AAP and BJP continue to dominate political discourse. While Sisodia claims electoral malpractice, the BJP insists it’s merely political propaganda. As voting day approaches, all eyes are on the Election Commission’s handling of these allegations and whether the electoral process remains fair and transparent.
