New Delhi – The much-debated Waqf Amendment Bill has reached the voting stage in Lok Sabha, where all 543 seats are actively engaged in a heated discussion. BJP MP Anurag Thakur made a strong statement, declaring that “India needs freedom from Waqf,” while promoting the slogan ‘Ek Hain Toh Safe Hai’.

During his speech, Anurag Thakur took a sharp dig at opposition parties, asserting that the bill would put an end to appeasement politics and ensure that Waqf laws do not favor any particular group.

Anurag Thakur: ‘This is India, Not Pakistan’

Speaking in Lok Sabha, Anurag Thakur stated: “Yeh India hai, Pakistan nahi. India needs freedom from Waqf. This bill will be the end of appeasement politics.” His remarks were met with both strong support and resistance from different sections of the house.

The Waqf Amendment Bill has already sparked major political debates, with opposition leaders like MK Stalin and Akhilesh Yadav demanding its withdrawal.

Live Voting Underway in Lok Sabha

With 543 members casting their votes, the fate of the Waqf Amendment Bill will soon be decided. The bill, if passed, is expected to bring changes in Waqf property regulations, aiming to increase transparency and reduce disputes over Waqf properties.

Supporters of the bill argue that it will prevent illegal encroachments and ensure equal land distribution, while critics claim it is an attack on religious autonomy.

Opposition Pushes Back Against Bill

Several opposition leaders, including those from the Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress, and DMK, have strongly opposed the bill. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin even wrote to PM Narendra Modi, urging a complete withdrawal.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav had earlier called the bill an injustice, stating that it ignores the voices of those it seeks to regulate.

What’s Next?

With live voting underway, the Lok Sabha’s decision will determine the bill’s future. If passed, it will move to the Rajya Sabha for further discussion. Political analysts predict that this bill could become a major flashpoint ahead of upcoming elections.

The final results of the Waqf Amendment Bill voting are expected soon, with nationwide reactions anticipated following the verdict.
