New Delhi – April 14, 2025:
In a major healthcare development, the Delhi government has announced the opening of 70 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs by May 2025. This initiative falls under the newly launched 100-day action plan spearheaded by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
These modern primary health centers are designed to serve as an upgraded version of the popular Mohalla Clinics, offering a wider range of services to Delhiites at their doorstep.
Expanded Healthcare Network
Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir will offer general physician consultations, diagnostic tests, essential medicines, maternal care, and health screenings for chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and cancer.
The project aims to bridge the healthcare gap in urban slums and underserved localities, ensuring universal access to quality healthcare.
Part of Rekha Gupta’s Health Vision
CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that this expansion represents a “new era of preventive and participatory health governance”. The Mandirs will also focus on Ayush-based wellness therapies, blending modern and traditional systems of medicine.
Digital Health Integration
The health centers will be digitally integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission. Citizens will receive unique Health IDs and e-records to track their medical history across facilities.
100-Day Action Plan Goals
The 100-day plan includes targets like:
Operationalizing 70 centers before May 31, 2025
Hiring 400+ medical professionals
Conducting 10 lakh+ screenings
Launching mobile clinics for unreachable zones
Public Reactions
Healthcare workers, residents, and civil society groups have welcomed the announcement. Experts see it as a game-changing reform, especially in Delhi’s congested healthcare landscape.
