CBN Neemuch Arrests 12 in Madhya Pradesh; Massive Seizure of Ganja, Opium, and Poppy Straw

Crackdown on Narcotics in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh Yields Major Success for Central Bureau of Narcotics

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Neemuch, has arrested 12 individuals and seized substantial quantities of ganja, poppy straw, and opium during a series of anti-drug operations across Madhya Pradesh.

The coordinated operations were conducted in and around Neemuch, a region often under scrutiny for narcotics-related activities. According to official sources, the CBN teams raided multiple hideouts, seizing over hundreds of kilograms of illegal substances, including ganja (cannabis), poppy straw, and processed opium.

The seized narcotics were estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the illegal drug market. The operation is considered one of the most successful anti-narcotics efforts in the region this year.

Officials confirmed that the 12 arrested individuals were involved in various stages of the drug supply chain, including cultivation, processing, and distribution. Many of them are believed to have connections with larger inter-state narcotics networks.

A senior CBN official stated, “This operation was meticulously planned. Our intelligence teams gathered critical inputs, and timely action led to the successful seizure of contraband and arrests. We remain committed to making Madhya Pradesh drug-free.”

The CBN Neemuch also confiscated vehicles, cash, and equipment used in the processing and transportation of the narcotics. The accused are currently being interrogated, and more arrests are expected as investigations deepen.

The crackdown follows recent directives from the Ministry of Finance and law enforcement authorities to curb the rising menace of drug trafficking, especially in regions like Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Ratlam, known for poppy cultivation.

This latest seizure has drawn attention to the illegal drug trade in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the need for sustained operations and community awareness. Law enforcement agencies have also appealed to the public to report suspicious activities and support the fight against narcotics.

The CBN plans to intensify patrolling and surveillance in sensitive zones and is coordinating with other state and central agencies to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates operating across state borders.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals have commenced under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act), and they face severe penalties upon conviction.
