Journalist Mukesh Found Dead in Septic Tank: Alleged Murder Linked to Reporting on Corruption
Chhattisgarh, January 4, 2025: A chilling incident has come to light involving the tragic death of journalist Mukesh, whose body was found in a septic tank at the residence of a contractor in Chhattisgarh. Mukesh had been active in investigative reporting, uncovering corruption in government projects, including a controversial story on the quality of a road worth ₹120 crores.
Mukesh, known for his brave and fearless reporting, had earlier covered sensitive issues, including a mission where he played a key role in rescuing CRPF soldiers from Naxalites in the dense forests of Bastar. However, his recent investigation on a road construction project involving contractor Suresh Chandrakar had reportedly led to trouble.
After exposing the substandard quality of the road, which had cost the government a whopping ₹120 crore, the contractor found himself under investigation. Just two days before his death, Mukesh had received an invitation from the contractor’s brother, Naresh Chandrakar, to meet. It was after this meeting that Mukesh was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
According to initial reports, Mukesh’s body showed signs of injuries, with wounds found on his back. Authorities are treating this as a case of murder, and investigations are ongoing to understand the full extent of the crime and the possible link between the contractor and the journalist’s tragic demise.
Mukesh’s untimely death has raised serious concerns about the safety of journalists in the region, especially those investigating corruption. His colleagues and supporters have called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the case, demanding justice for the slain journalist.
This incident adds to a series of challenges faced by journalists in India, who often risk their lives to expose corruption and hold those in power accountable. The government has assured that all possible measures will be taken to investigate the matter thoroughly.
