"Who Lives If India Dies?": Shashi Tharoor Urges Focus on National Security

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor emphasizes national interest above party lines, urging unity for inclusive development and democratic strength.

Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor has once again stressed the importance of prioritizing the nation’s interests above political differences, urging all parties to come together for the sake of India’s future.

Addressing a public gathering in New Delhi on Thursday, Tharoor said, “It is time to reaffirm our collective duty to the nation — putting India first, above partisan politics, personal ambitions, or electoral wins.”

Tharoor’s speech comes at a time of increasing political polarization in the country. He emphasized that cooperation across party lines is essential to maintain democratic values, social harmony, and sustainable growth.

He added, “Our democracy thrives when dissent and dialogue coexist. Unity doesn’t mean uniformity, but a shared purpose: to see India prosper.”

🔍 Emphasizing National Interest

Tharoor made it clear that while debates and disagreements are part of a healthy democracy, they should not come at the cost of national progress. He noted, “Political maturity lies in accepting differences while working together for the nation’s betterment.”

He encouraged all leaders — across ideological divides — to unite for causes such as economic growth, education, healthcare, and employment generation.

🇮🇳 Vision for a Stronger India

The Congress MP outlined his vision for a stronger India based on inclusivity, justice, transparency, and accountability. He said India’s greatness lies in its diversity and its ability to hold many voices under one constitutional framework.

“True nationalism,” he added, “is not about loud slogans but about quiet service, hard policy decisions, and compassion for every citizen.”

⚖️ Politics with Purpose

Tharoor criticized the culture of constant conflict and character assassinations in Indian politics. He urged leaders to practice responsible politics and focus on people’s issues rather than personal rivalries.

He said, “We must shift from blame games to building bridges. Let’s focus on farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and our youth — they deserve leadership that puts their future first.”

🏛️ Call to Younger Leaders

Addressing the younger generation, Tharoor called upon emerging political leaders to embrace values of service, truth, and innovation. He said India’s next phase of development must be driven by young minds committed to democratic ideals.

“Young India wants jobs, justice, and dignity — not noise. Give them hope, not hatred,” Tharoor said passionately.

🌍 Global Image of India

Highlighting India’s role on the world stage, he pointed out that internal unity strengthens the country’s international standing. “When we are united at home, we are stronger abroad,” he said.

He also mentioned the importance of rebuilding trust in institutions, encouraging civil society, media, and the judiciary to remain independent and bold.
