The Income Tax Department (I-T Department) has uncovered a massive tax fraud in Tamil Nadu, involving nearly 3,000 PSU employees who allegedly filed false Income Tax Returns (ITRs) using fake donation bills. These employees fraudulently claimed deductions under Section 80GGC, which provides tax benefits for donations made to political parties.

 

Investigations revealed that hundreds of employees submitted bogus receipts in the name of political parties to evade taxes. The I-T Department has launched an extensive scrutiny process to track the fraudulent claims and recover the lost revenue.

Tax officials have also warned that misuse of Section 80GGC could lead to heavy fines, penalties, and legal consequences under the Income Tax Act.
